CILJ I SVRHA

Fizikalna i rehabilitacijska medicina službeni je recenzirani časopis Hrvatskog društva za fizikalnu i rehabilitacijsku medicinu Hrvatskoga liječničkog zbora. Časopis objavljuje pregledne članke, originalne radove, preliminarna izvješća i prikaze slučajeva koji izvještavaju o važnim trendovima u fizikalnoj medicini i rehabilitaciji, interdisciplinarnim područjima rehabilitacije i njihovu razvoju te o novostima u kliničkom i nekliničkom djelokrugu rada. Čitatelju pruža bitne informacije u svezi s terapijskom primjenom fizikalnih i farmakoloških čimbenika u pružanju sveobuhvatne skrbi osobama s oštećenjima i kroničnim bolestima. Također, u časopisu se periodično objavljuju dodatci sa sažetcima ili cjelovitim tekstom izloženim na kongresu ili simpoziju, te informacije o Hrvatskom društvu za fizikalnu i rehabilitacijsku medicinu, njihovim članovima u Hrvatskoj i u inozemstvu, kao i aktivnostima Europskog društva za fizikalnu i rehabilitacijsku medicinu, te Sekcije i Odbora za Fizikalnu i rehabilitacijsku medicinu Europske unije medicinskih specijalista. Časopis je dio europske mreže časopisa iz fizikalne i rehabilitacijske medicine.

PREDAJA RADA/OBJAVA RUKOPISA

Objavljuju se članci na hrvatskom jeziku (sa sažetkom, ključnim riječima, naslovom i legendom tablica i slika na engleskom) ili na engleskom jeziku (sa sažetkom, ključnim riječima, naslovom i legendom tablica i slika na hrvatskom).

Časopis Fizikalna i rehabilitacijska medicina pridržava se i upućuje autore na preporuke za pripremu rukopisa objavljene u tekstu Međunarodnog odbora urednika medicinskih časopisa (International Committee of Medical Journal Editors – ICMJE; http://icmje.org/ icmje-recommendations.pdf) i Svjetske udruge medicinskih urednika (World Association of Medical Editors – WAME http://www.wame.org), a etički standardi sukladni su onima Odbora publicističke etike (Committee on Publication Ethics – COPE; https://publicationethics.org/ resources ) i Vijeća znanstvenih urednika (Council of Science Editors – CSE; https://www. csescienceeditor.org/ ovi se dostavljaju, uključujući sve priloge, u jednom tiskanom primjerku na adresu: Uredništvo Časopisa, Klinika za reumatologiju, fizikalnu medicinu i rehabilitaciju Klinički bolnički centar „Sestre milosrdnice“, 10000 Zagreb, Vinogradska cesta 29, Hrvatska i obavezno na mail: tonkovlak@gmail.com

AUTORSTVO

Sve osobe određene kao autori trebaju se kvalificirati za autorstvo. Sukladno preporukama Međunarodnog odbora urednika medicinskih časopisa (International Committee of Medical Journal Editors – ICMJE) uz rukopis autori trebaju priložiti pisanu izjavu da su znatno sudjelovali u koncepciji ili nacrtu rada ili u prikupljanju, analizi i interpretaciji podataka i napisali prvu verziju rada ili su ga kritički revidirali u znatnom dijelu intelektualnog sadržaja i odobrili završnu verziju rada te su se složili da su odgovorni za sve značajke rada i jamče da će se pitanja koja se odnose na točnost i integritet bilo kojeg dijela rada prikladno istražiti i riješiti. (engl. Substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work; AND Drafting the work or revising it critically for important intellectual content; AND Final approval of the version to be published; AND Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work in ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved). Osobe koje nisu zadovoljile kriterije za autorstvo, poput osoba koje su pružile intelektualnu pomoć (engl. intellectual assistance), tehničku pomoć (engl. technical help) ili osigurale specijalnu opremu i materijale (engl. provided special equipment or materials) treba navesti u dijelu Zahvale. Uz rad treba priložiti pismo koje potpisuju svi autori i izjave da rad nije prethodno bio objavljen ili ponuđen/prihvaćen za objavu u nekom drugom časopisu, da su ga pročitali i odobrili svi autori, te izjavom da ne postoji financijski ili bilo kakav drugi sukob interesa. Također, uz rad treba priložiti i izjavu o prijenosu autorskih prava na časopis.

PLAGIRANJE I POVLAČENJE RADA

Svi se radovi provjeravaju na originalnost i plagiranje, umnažanje, dupliciranje i prekomjernu prijavu/publikacije i teksta i slikovnih prikaza iz drugih izvora (s pomoću, na primjer, programa Duplichecker, Plagiarism Checker, Plagium, PlagScan). Plagirani ili na bilo koji drugi neetički način objavljeni radovi bit će povučeni u skladu s COPE-ovim Uputama o povlačenju radova ( COPE – RetractionGuidelines; https://publicationethics.org/guidance/guideline/ retraction-guidelines).

Uredništvo preporučuje autorima da se registriraju kod ORCID-a (https://orcid.org) i prilikom prijave rada dostave ORCID-ov identifikacijski broj (ID), koji će radi bolje vidljivosti autorstva i publiciranja biti naveden prije Literature.

Svi koji su sudjelovali u radu, a nisu autori, trebaju biti spomenuti u Zahvali.

KATEGORIZACIJA, FORMAT I OPSEG RADOVA

Fizikalna i rehabilitacijska medicina objavljuje ove vrste radova kod kojih je potrebna recenzija (engl. peer-reviewed articles): uvodnike, originalne znanstvene radove, stručne radove, kratka priopćenja, preliminarna izvješća, pregledne radove i dobro dokumentirane prikaze bolesnika.

Uvodnik (Editorial): maksimalno 1200 riječi; do 1 slike ili tablice; do 20 referencija; 3 – 6 ključnih riječi; nestrukturirani sažetak do 300 riječi (ako je primjenjivo).

Originalni rad (Original Research Article): maksimalno 6000 riječi; do 6 slika i 6 tablica; neograničeni broj referencija; 3 – 6 ključnih riječi; strukturirani sažetak do 300 riječi (izuzetak su radovi iz povijesti medicine koji mogu imati nestrukturirani sažetak).

Stručni rad (Professional Article): maksimalno 5000 riječi; do 5 slika i 5 tablica; neograničeni broj referencija; 3 – 6 ključnih riječi; strukturirani sažetak do 300 riječi (izuzetak su radovi iz povijesti medicine koji mogu imati nestrukturirani sažetak).

Pregledni rad (Review): maksimalno 10 000 riječi; do 8 slika i 8 tablica, oblik znanstvenog rada, to je znanstveni rad što sadrži izvoran, sažet i kritički prikaz jednog područja ili njegova dijela u kojemu autor aktivno djeluje. Mora biti istaknuta uloga autorova izvornog doprinosa u tom području s obzirom na već publicirane radove te pregled tih radova. Pregledni rad sadrži i najnovije informacije o trenutačnom stanju razvoja i usmjerenja (tzv. state-of–the-art reviews). Može ih pisati jedan ili skupina autora i obično se pišu na zamolbu urednika. Obavezna je recenzija informacije o trenutačnom stanju razvoja i usmjerenja (tzv. state-of–the-art reviews).

Kratko priopćenje (Short Communication, Brief Report): maksimalno 1200 riječi; do 3 slike ili tablice; do 15 referencija; 3 – 6 ključnih riječi; strukturirani sažetak do 300 riječi.

Prethodno priopćenje (Preliminary Communication): maksimalno 1200 riječi; do 3 slike ili tablice; do 15 referencija; 3 – 6 ključnih riječi; strukturirani sažetak do 300 riječi.

Prikaz bolesnika (s pregledom literature) (Case Report (with Review of the Literature)) treba biti pisan prema smjernicama za prikaz bolesnika CARE case report guidelines: https:// www.care-statement.org/: maksimalno 5000 riječi; do 5 slika ili tablica; neograničeni broj referencija; 3 – 6 ključnih riječi; nestrukturirani sažetak do 300 riječi.

Pismo uredniku (Letter to the Editor): maksimalno 1000 riječi; do 7 referencija.

Ispravak (Erratum): omogućuje korekciju pogrješaka koje su se pojavile kod pisanja, printanja ili u procesu publikacije članaka.

PRIPREMA RADA/RUKOPISA

Rukopis mora imati ovaj sadržaj:

Naslovnu stranicu s naslovom na hrvatskom i engleskom jeziku te imenima i prezimenima autora. Ispod toga treba navesti ustanove u kojima autori rade i nazive ustanova u kojima je rad napravljen te ponoviti ime i prezime svakog autora s akademskim stupnjem uz naziv ustanove u kojoj radi. Potrebno je posebno navesti adresu autora s kojime se Urednički odbor može dopisivati. Na dnu stranice potrebno je predložiti skraćeni naslov članka koji će se tiskati kao tekući naslov.

Sažetak i ključne riječi

Druga stranica treba sadržavati strukturirani sažetak na hrvatskom i engleskom jeziku (do 300 riječi) u kojem su navedeni cilj studije/istraživanja, materijal (ispitanici) i metode, rezultati i zaključci.

Sažetak mora biti pisan u skladu s preporukama ICMJE Recommendations.

U sažetku valja naglasiti nove i važne aspekte studije ili opservacije. Ispod sažetka autori trebaju navesti četiri do šest ključnih riječi ili kratkih pojmova na hrvatskom i engleskom jeziku koji će pomoći pri indeksiranju članka i mogu se objaviti uz sažetak. Za ključne riječi treba se koristiti pojmovima iz popisa Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) Indexa Medicusa. Općenite, pluralne i mnogostruke koncepte (primjerice uz uporabu „i“, „ili“) treba izbjegavati. Sažetak ne smije sadržavati navode referencija.

Uvod

Navedite svrhu članka i razlog provođenja studije ili opservacije. Navedite samo relevantne reference, bez podataka ili zaključaka iz rada koji predstavljate.

Postupci (metode)

Opišite odabir i jasno navedite sve važne karakteristike ispitanika koji su studirani ili opservirani ili laboratorijskih životinja. Pažljivo specificirajte značenje deskriptora te objasnite kako su prikupljeni podatci. Identificirajte metode, aparate (s nazivom proizvođača, u zagradi), te postupke s dovoljno detalja kako bi se rezultati mogli reproducirati. Navedite reference za metode i statističku obradu. Opišite nove ili one metode koje su značajnije modificirane, navedite razlog njihova korištenja i procijenite njihova ograničenja. Navedite generičke nazive svih korištenih lijekova i sve kemikalije. Sva mjerenja trebaju biti izražena u SI jedinicama.. Statističke postupke potrebno je objasniti dovoljno detaljno da bi čitatelj iz izvornih rezultata mogao sam izračunati navedene vjerojatnosti. Ako je korištena računalna obrada podataka, mora se navesti statistički program koji je korišten. Za istraživanje na ljudima potrebno je navesti sukladnost s etičkim načelima Deklaracije iz Helsinkija iz 2000. godine i njenim dopunama iz 2002. i 2004. godine. Isto tako treba navesti je li i koje etičko povjerenstvo dalo pristanak za provođenje istraživanja. Ne smiju se navoditi imena, inicijali ili matični brojevi bolesnika.

Etika i etički standardi

U radovima koji se bave eksperimentima na ljudima jasno treba navesti da su postupci provedeni sukladno etičkim standardima institucijskog ili regionalnog odbora odgovornog za izvođenje eksperimenata na ljudima, te u skladu s Helsinškom deklaracijom iz 2000. godine, revidiranom 2002. i 2004. godine. Ne smije se navoditi ispitanikovo ime i/ili prezime, osobito u ilustrativnim materijalima. U radovima koji se bave istraživanjima na životinjama treba navesti da je poštovan institucionalni ili nacionalni pravilnik o brizi o laboratorijskim životinjama i njihovu korištenju.

U slučaju sumnje na plagijat Urednički odbor će, nakon vlastite procjene problema, materijal uputiti nadležnom etičkom povjerenstvu ili povjerenstvu za akademski integritet.

Statistička obrada

Iscrpno opišite statističke metode kako biste omogućili obrazovanom čitatelju koji ima pristup originalnim podatcima da potvrdi navedene rezultate. Gdje god je to moguće, kvantificirajte zaključke i prezentirajte odgovarajućim indikatorima pogreške ili odstupanja od mjerenja. Specificirajte korišteni računalni program.

Rezultati

Izložite rezultate logičnim slijedom u tekstu, tablicama i ilustracijama. Treba se služiti SI jedinicama. Treba iscrpno opisati statističke metode da bi se educiranom čitatelju koji ima pristup izvornim podatcima dala mogućnost da potvrdi navedene rezultate. Gdje god je to moguće, zaključke treba kvantificirati i prezentirati odgovarajućim indikatorima pogreške ili odstupanja od mjerenja.

Rezultati se izlažu logičnim slijedom u tekstu, tablicama i ilustracijama. U tekstu se ne ponavljaju svi podatci iz tablica ili ilustracija već se naglašavaju ili sažimaju samo bitna opažanja.

Rasprava

Naglasite nove i bitne aspekte studije, te zaključke koji proistječu iz nje. Ne ponavljajte detaljne podatke ni bilo koje druge materijale koji su navedeni u uvodnom ili u dijelu s rezultatima. U dio za raspravu uključite važnost dobivenih rezultata i njihova ograničenja, uključujući i implikacije vezane uz buduća istraživanja, ali izbjegavajte izjave i zaključke koji nisu potpuno potvrđeni dobivenim podatcima. Povežite zaključke iz svoje studije s ostalim relevantnim studijama. Kad je potrebno, navedite nove hipoteze i jasno naglasite da su nove.

Tablice

Naslovi tablica i tekstualni dio tablica moraju biti dvojezični, na hrvatskom i engleskom jeziku. Tablice se pišu na posebnoj stranici. Ne smiju se slati kao fotografije. Svaka tablica mora imati naslov i redni broj prema redoslijedu pojavljivanja u tekstu. Tablica mora biti pregledna i jednostavna. Legende tablica trebaju biti napisane ispod tablice, uz oznaku u tablici u superskriptu. Tablice ne bi trebale ponavljati rezultate koji su prezentirani bilo gdje drugdje u radu (npr. u slici). Tablice preuzete iz drugih izvora treba popratiti dopuštenjem za objavu njihovih izdavača/autora.

Slike

Opisi slika i tekstualni dio slike moraju biti dvojezični, na hrvatskom i engleskom jeziku.

Slike trebaju biti profesionalno nacrtane ili snimljene. Pazite da slova, brojevi i simboli budu čitljivi i u smanjenom obliku u kojem će se objaviti. Svaka fotografija treba imati broj prema redoslijedu pojavljivanja u tekstu, ime autora i označenu gornju stranu. Fotografije osoba mogu se objavljivati samo uz pisano dopuštenje osobe na fotografiji ili moraju biti neprepoznatljive. Ako se dostavljaju u elektroničkom obliku, slike/ilustracije moraju biti u formatu TIFF ili JPEG visoke kvalitete, najmanje širine 1500 piksela. Slike/ilustracije u ostalim formatima mogu biti prihvaćene samo uz prethodni dogovor s uredništvom. Uredništvo pridržava pravo ne objaviti slike/ilustracije koje ne zadovoljavaju ove uvjete.

• Slike (fotografije, grafove, figure…) autori moraju dostavljati zasebno u što boljoj kvaliteti i što višoj rezoluciji (.tif, .jpg, .png). Svaka slika u tekstu mora imati svoj generički naziv (slika ..) uz svoj vlastiti naziv. Generički naziv treba sadržavati redni broj zapisan arapskim znamenkama po redu pojavljivanja u tekstu. Naziv slike i opis smatraju se sastavnim dijelom teksta, a ne slike, stoga se navode u tekstu, a ne na slici.

Kratice

Služite se samo standardnim kraticama. Puni pojam za koji se koristi kratica treba biti naveden pri prvom korištenju kratice u tekstu, osim ako se ne radi o standardnim kraticama mjernih jedinica. Izbjegavajte korištenje kratica u naslovu rada.

Zahvale i mogući sukob interesa

Svi izvori financiranja (privatni, javni, komercijalni) radova upućenih za objavljivanje, doprinos autora (koncepcija ili nacrt rada; prikupljanje, analiza i interpretacija podataka; pisanje teksta; kritičko revidiranje u znatnom dijelu intelektualnog sadržaja), kao i mogući sukobi interesa autora (neformalni dogovori s privrednim subjektima, ugovori o konzultantskim angažmanima, izvođenje sponzoriranih predavanja u ime proizvođača ili prodavača predmetnih materijala), trebaju se jasno objaviti na kraju teksta pod naslovom „Zahvale“. Pod „Zahvalama“ se popisuju ljudi koji su pomogli u ostvarenju studije ili pripremi teksta, a nisu suautori. Za više informacija, posjetite: https://www.icmje.org/

Literatura

Ako se navodi citiranje prema Indexu Medicusu, trebalo bi navesti primjere citiranja. Obično časopisi koriste vancouverski način (International committee of medical journal editors Uniform requirements for manuscripts submitted biomedical jornals: Sample references http://www.nlm.nih.gov/bsd/uniform_requirements.html).

Literatura se navodi rednim brojem, prema redoslijedu pojavljivanja u tekstu. Literaturu u tekstu, tablicama i legendi treba navoditi sukladno alfanumeričkom sustavu u zagradama. Literaturu treba navoditi prema Indexu Medicusu. Naslovi časopisa trebaju se skraćivati na način uobičajen za Index Medicus (http://www.nlm.nih.gov). Pri navođenju prihvaćenih, ali još neobjavljenih radova treba ih se navesti kao „u tisku“. Autori trebaju dobiti pismeno odobrenje za citiranje takvog rada zajedno s potvrdom da je rad prihvaćen za objavu.

PROCES OCJENE RADA

Svaki će se rukopis tretirati kao strogo povjerljiv materijal, a proces ocjene rada provodi se anonimno. Prispjele rukopise najprije procjenjuje urednički odbor te ih potom šalje najmanje dvojici recenzenata anonimno. Svaki upućeni rad dobiva svoj broj i oznaku (ID), a autori će biti obaviješteni o prijmu rada i njegovu broju. Autori su se dužni tim ID brojem koristiti u svakoj budućoj korespondenciji. Autor kojega su ostali autori imenovali za korespondenciju djeluje u ime ostalih u procesu vezanom za publikaciju rada. Rukopisi i ostali dostavljeni materijali ne vraćaju se pošiljateljima.

Nakon što urednički odbor razmotri pristigle recenzije upućuje ih autoru/ima na uvid i popravak rukopisa. Ovisno o naravi recenzentskih primjedbi popravljeni rukopis se može ponovno uputiti na recenziju istim recenzentima. Prihvaćeni radovi ne moraju se objavljivati onim redom kojim pristižu. Izneseni stavovi predstavljaju mišljenje autora.

Rukopisi se ne vraćaju, a svi tiskani prilozi vlasništvo su Hrvatskoga liječničkog zbora i Hrvatskog društva za fizikalnu i rehabilitacijsku medicinu. Sadržaj Fizikalne i rehabilitacijske medicine može se reproducirati uz navod „preuzeto iz časopisa Fizikalna i rehabilitacijska medicina“.

Svaki objavljeni članak dobiva svoj DOI (Digital Object Identifier), koji je jedinstven za svaki članak objavljen u časopisu Fizikalna i rehabilitacijska medicina. Uredništvo će osigurati svakom autoru (ili autoru koji je zadužen za korespondenciju ako je grupa autora prijavila rad) jednu kopiju časopisa.

AIM AND PURPOSE

Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine is a peer-reviewed journal published by the Croatian Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine of the Croatian Medical Association. The journal publishes reviews, original research articles, preliminary reports and case studies reporting on important trends in physical medicine and rehabilitation, interdisciplinary areas of rehabilitation and their development, and on novelties in the clinical and non-clinical scope of work. It provides the reader with essential information regarding the therapeutic application of physical and pharmacological factors in the provision of comprehensive care to persons with impairments and chronic diseases. Also, the journal periodically publishes supplements with abstracts or full texts presented at a congress or symposium, and infor-mation about the Croatian Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine, their members in Croatia and abroad, as well as the activities of the European Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine, including the Section and Board for Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine of the European Union of Medical Specialists. The journal is part of the European network of journals in physical and rehabilitation medicine.

Articles are published in Croatian (with abstract, keywords, title and legend of tables and figures in English) or in English (with abstract, keywords, title and legend of tables and figures in Croatian).

AUTHORSHIP

All persons designated as authors should qualify for authorship According to the recom-mendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), authors should attach a written statement to the manuscript, stating their substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work; and drafting the work or revising it critically for important intellectual content; and final approval of the version to be published; and agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work in ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved. Persons who did not meet the criteria for authorship, such as persons who provided intellectual assistance, technical help, or provided special equipment or materials, should be listed in the Acknowledgements section. The paper should be accompanied by a letter signed by all authors and a statement that the paper has not been previously published or offered/accepted for publication in any other journal, that it has been read and approved by all authors, and a statement that there is no financial or other conflict of interest. The paper should also be accompanied by a statement on the transfer of copyright to the journal.

PLAGIARISM AND PAPER RETRACTION

All papers are checked for originality and plagiarism, copying, duplication and oversubmissi-on/publication of both text and images from other sources (using, for example, Duplichecker, Plagiarism Checker, Plagium, PlagScan). Plagiarized or otherwise unethically published papers will be retracted in accordance with COPE’s Retraction Guidelines (COPE – Retra-ctionGuidelines; https://publicationethics.org/guidance/guideline/retraction-guidelines).

The editorial board recommends that authors register with ORCID (https://orcid.org ) and provide an ORCID identification number (ID) when submitting their work, which will be listed before the References for better visibility of authorship and publication.

All those who participated in the work but are not authors should be mentioned in the Acknowledgements.

ARTICLE CATEGORIZATION, FORMAT AND SCOPE

Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine publishes the following types of peer-reviewed articles: editorials, original research articles, professional articles, short communications, preliminary communications, review papers and well-documented case reports.

Editorial: a maximum of 1,200 words; up to 1 figure or table; up to 20 references; 3-6 keywords; an unstructured abstract of up to 300 words (if applicable).

Review: a maximum of 10,000 words; up to 8 images and 8 tables, a form of scientific work, containing an original, concise and critical presentation of an area or part of area in which the author actively works. PAPER/MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION

The manuscript must contain the following:

Title page with the title in Croatian and English and the names and surnames of the authors.

Below this, the institutions where the authors work and the names of the institutions where the work was done should be listed, and the name and surname of each author with their academic degree should be repeated along with the name of the institution where they work. It is necessary to separately state the address of the author with whom the Editorial Board can correspond. At the bottom of the page, it is necessary to propose an abbreviated title of the article to be printed as the running title.

Abstract and keywords

The second page should contain a structured abstract in Croatian and English (up to 300 words) stating the aim of the study/research, material (subjects) and methods, results, and conclusions.

The abstract must be written in accordance with the ICMJE Recommendations.

The abstract should highlight new and important aspects of the study or observation. Below the abstract, authors should list four to six keywords or short terms in Croatian and English that will help index the article and can be published with the abstract. Keywords should be terms from the Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) list of Index Medicus. General, plural, and multiple concepts (for example, using “and”, “or”) should be avoided. The abstract must not contain references.

Introduction

State the purpose of the article and the reason for conducting the study or observation. Pro-vide only relevant references, without data or conclusions from the work you are presenting.

Procedures (methods)

Describe the selection and clearly state all important characteristics of the subjects studied or observed, or of the laboratory animals. Carefully specify the meaning of the descriptors and explain how the data were collected. Identify methods, apparatus (with manufacturer’s name, in parentheses), and procedures in sufficient detail so that the results can be repro-duced. Provide references for methods and statistical analysis. Describe new methods or those that have been significantly modified, state the reason for their use and assess their limitations. List the generic names of all drugs used and all chemicals. All measurements should be expressed in SI units. Statistical procedures should be explained in sufficient detail to enable the reader to calculate the stated probabilities from the original results. If computer data processing was used, the statistical program that was used must be specified. For human research, compliance with the ethical principles of the Helsinki Declaration from 2000 and its amendments from 2002 and 2004 must be indicated. It should also be stated whether and which ethics committee gave consent for the research. Names, initials or patient identification numbers must not be stated.

Ethics and ethical standards

In papers dealing with experiments on humans, it should be clearly stated that the procedu-res were carried out in accordance with the ethical standards of the institutional or regional committee responsible for conducting experiments on humans, and in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki of 2000, revised in 2002 and 2004. The subject’s name and/or surname should not be mentioned, especially in illustrative materials. In papers dealing with research on animals, it should be stated that the institutional or national regulations on the care and use of laboratory animals were followed.

In case of suspicion of plagiarism, the Editorial Board, after its own assessment of the problem, will refer the material to the competent ethics committee or academic integrity committee.

Statistical processing

Thoroughly describe the statistical methods to allow an educated reader with access to the original data to confirm the results stated. Wherever possible, quantify the conclusions and present them with appropriate indicators of error or deviation from measurement. Specify the computer program used.

Results

Present the results in a logical sequence in the text, tables, and illustrations. SI units should be used. In the discussion section, include the importance of the obtained results and their limitations, including implications for future research, but avoid statements and conclusions that are not fully supported by the obtained data. Relate the conclusions of your study to other relevant studies. When necessary, state new hypotheses and clearly state that they are new.

Tables

Table titles and the textual part of the tables must be bilingual, in Croatian and English. Tables must be written on a separate page. They must not be sent as photographs. Each table must have a title and a table number according to the order of appearance in the text. The table must be clear and simple. Table legends should be written below the table, using supers-cript symbols in the table. Tables should not repeat results that are presented elsewhere in the paper (e.g., in a figure). Tables taken from other sources should be accompanied by permission for publication from their publishers/authors.

Images

Image descriptions and the textual part of the image must be bilingual, in Croatian and English.

Images must be professionally drawn or photographed. Make sure that letters, numbers and symbols are legible even in the reduced form in which they will be published. Each photograph should be numbered according to the order of appearance in the text, the author’s name and the top side marked. Photographs of persons may only be published with the written permission of the person in the photograph or they must be unrecognizable. If submitted electronically, images/illustrations must be in high-quality TIFF or JPEG format, at least 1500 pixels wide. Images/illustrations in other formats may only be accepted with prior agreement with the editorial board. The editorial board reserves the right not to publish images/illustrations that do not meet these requirements.

• Images (photographs, graphs, figures, ) must be submitted separately by authors in the best possible quality and resolution (.tif, .png). Each image in the text must have its own generic name (figure 1…) in addition to its own title. The generic name should contain a serial number written in Arabic numerals in the order of appearance in the text. The image title and description are considered an integral part of the text, not the image, and are therefore listed in the text, not on the image itself.

Abbreviations

Use only standard abbreviations. The full term for which the abbreviation is used should be indicated the first time the abbreviation is used in the text, unless it is a standard abbreviation of measurement units. Avoid using abbreviations in the title of the paper.

Acknowledgements and possible conflict of interest

All sources of funding (private, public, commercial) of works submitted for publication, author contribution (concept or draft of the work; collection, analysis and interpretation of data; writing the text; critical revision in a significant part of the intellectual content) as well as possible conflicts of interest of the author (informal agreements with business entities, contracts on consulting engagements, doing sponsored lectures on behalf of the manufa-cturer or seller of the subject materials), should be clearly announced at the end of the text under the heading “Acknowledgments.” Under “Acknowledgements” are listed people who helped in the realization of the study or preparation of the text, but are not co-authors. If citations follow the Index Medicus format, examples of citations should be provided. References are listed by number, according to the order of appearance in the text. References in the text, tables, and legends should be listed in parentheses using the alphanumeric system. References should be listed using Index Medicus. Journal titles should be abbre-viated in the manner customary for Index Medicus (http://www.nlm.nih.gov). When citing accepted but not yet published works, they should be listed as “in press.” Authors should obtain written permission to cite such work, along with confirmation that the work has been accepted for publication.

PAPER EVALUATION PROCESS

Each manuscript will be treated as strictly confidential material, and the evaluation process will be conducted anonymously. Received manuscripts are first evaluated by the editorial board and then sent to at least two anonymous reviewers. Each submitted paper receives its own number and identification (ID), and the authors will be notified of the receipt of the paper and its number. Authors are obliged to use this ID number in all future corres-pondence. The author appointed by the other authors for correspondence acts on behalf of the others in the process related to the publication of the work. Manuscripts and other submitted materials will not be returned to the senders.

After the editorial board has considered the received reviews, it refers them to the author(s) for review and correction of the manuscript. Depending on the nature of the reviewer’s remarks, the revised manuscript can be sent again for review by the same reviewers. Accep-ted papers do not have to be published in the order in which they are received. The views presented represent the opinion of the author(s).

Manuscripts will not be returned, and all printed contributions are the property of the Croa-tian Medical Association and the Croatian Society for Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine. The content of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine may be reproduced with the citation “taken from the journal Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine.”

Each published article receives its own DOI (Digital Object Identifier), which is unique for each article published in the journal Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine. The editorial office will provide each author (or the author in charge of correspondence if a group of authors has submitted a paper) one copy of the journal.
